Using Curves in Photoshop
Learn how to use curves in photoshop to blend two images. Using curves, we will blend colors of the subject from another image to the background. To make your composite image look authentic and real, we will not only manipulate brightness and contrast but also colors using just curves. Later in the tutorial, we will learn how to enhance and match colors to make them look more natural using other adjustment layers as well. Curves in Photoshop is a very powerful tool. It would be safe to say that it is the all-in-one tool, especially when it comes to controlling the tonality of the images. If you practice composite photography or create photo manipulations, learn curves is the first step to combining two or more images together. Merging photos together require you to match the lighting, the colors and the overall tonality of the image. If this is not taken care of, then obviously your image might look flat and even super-unreal or wrong. In this video, we will try to combine 2 photos into one. You see, cutting, pasting, and masking the image is the easy part. It is the act of blending photos together that takes time and experience. In order to match color, we first need to analyze the background and look at the highlights and the shadows. Now, determine what color or tint does the highlights and the shadows have and using curves, we will apply the same tint or color cast to the subject.
