A proposal for Photoshop Nation

What's on your mind today?

Frank, the creator of Pxleyes, and now of Grepless, makes you a proposal.
He offers to take over Photoshop Nation, and host it on his server then it would cost you nothing.
You can join him there:

Hey Zizounai, moving the website would be a monster task, that requires a lot of dedicated time, which i'd rather spend doing something else. In any case, thank Frank for the proposal but i think it is a waste of time, like the saying goes it would be like "flogging a dead horse". Photoshopnation is dead, photomanipulation contest sites are dead, the golden age has passed, people have changed.

Cheers

Here is Frank's reply: "But I would do everything, including the move

It's not that hard

Did it many times"

i don't understand why Frank can't reply himself, anyway, this website is all custom coded, i'm a messy coder and don't leave comments in the scripts, there's a lot of stuff to change and sincerely i don't even remember everything that needs to be done. He could have made us an offer, we would have probably accepted. It's a closed chapter for me.

Cheers

a year and a half of my life (and an ulcer) went into creating this website, i'm not going to hand it over like that, i prefer to see it die.

I understand your bitterness but not your various arguments...
I think that Frank simply didn't imagine he could discuss with you in the forum without participating in the contests.
I'll just send him this page link.

I'm impressed with how slick the page is. Finally a page that has a darker format around the images instead of the glaring white of the others. I can imagine it is a painful process to create it yet for what it's worth from a participant it would be great to see it live on, if as it seems another party is willing to negotiate for it to happen.

There could be a pinned post with permanent credit to the founders if the page is sold to a new host.

Hey Nick,

This is Frank, I don't mind much that the code is messy, I'm not planning on changing anything and not planning to start any new contests, so it doesn't matter. I just want to host the platform so the archive can remain online and will do the transfer myself. I don't have much budget to make a big offer, but maybe we can come to some agreement? It would be a shame to just take all people's work offline, as they've put a ton of work into their chops. I also closed my site Pxleyes [its code is possibly the messiest ever written, from the times of PHP4!]. On there I just closed the contests and forums, but kept the contest archive online. We can do the same here. Hit me up on Discord if you want to talk, my username is ecky--ptang-zooboing#6744

All the best,
Frank

You are absolutely right Nick, the golden age of photo manipulation is done, people have changed. I can see Photoshopcontest site doing the same in the near future, but then again it's one on the last ones and may go along further when everyone flocks there.
Sad to see this happening.
Good luck.
