What's on your mind today?

If anyone is interested, these are the rules/suggestions for voting from another photoshop contest site.
Votes are based on a score from 1-10, but can be applied to this site's 1-100

1. An entry that is so awful it should probably not even be on the site.
2. An entry that is pretty horrible. For example, sloppy masking or low resolution.
3. An entry that is below average. It definitely needs that extra hour of work or thought. Easy things have been ignored.
4. An entry that could have been good but falls a bit short.
5. It’s average.
6. Better than average.
7. Great idea and execution. Much better than average.
8. Terrific idea and execution and something that sets it apart from just being great.
9. This is almost perfect. The idea and execution are fantastic and there is a special something that makes it really stand out.
10. Wow! The execution is perfect and the idea behind it is brilliant. The best thing I’ve seen on the site in a while.

These are voting suggestions from yet another site:

Voting scale (1 being the lowest, and 10 being the highest):
1. If the entry is so bad it deserves a 1, it should be flagged and removed.
2. An entry that is horrible too, and should also be removed. EXAMPLE: Horrible layer masking with jagged edges. No blending effort whatsoever.
3. Not horrible but definitely below average. Needs an extra hour to fix the obvious editing mistakes.
4. Extra 15 minutes of work on this entry could have made it a good one. It was probably a quickie where the author forgot to fix some things and submitted it in a rush.
5. Mediocre entry. Not too bad, but not yet good.
6. Slightly better than average.
7. Decent entry, much better than average. Strong idea and execution.
8. Great idea and clean execution technique.
9. Genius idea and extraordinary execution - something you may expect to see in magazines and media.
10. Perfect entry in every possible way, professionally done. One of the best entries I've seen on the site.

I wish people would vote better. Even when I think I did a great job, it's all 40's. I am still learning, and definitely need help with my chops but wow!! :-)

I agree wholeheartedly Lynnette.Since I've been choppin here regularly which was last august the scoring overall has been around 10 points undervalued from what it was the first year or so that this site started.I have an idea but not really sure why this tendency has ocurred, maybe some of the older members that have been here from the beginning can enlighten us.Anyhow it seems that this trend is here to stay unless we all make a concerted effort to rectify this back to a more reasonable scoring dynamic in the voting system.

Yes you are exactly right Lux! I thought it was just me but sometimes I feel I do a good job and still get 40's it's crazy! It makes me not want to do any but I love it so much and it's fun! I try to vote the way vicspa explained here and just wish others would too. XD

My take on this is that at some point a lot of "beginners" choppers joined the site and got low votes, (because of the inexperience), and they started to give comparable low votes, and it became the norm. Tough to give a fair score if you don't recognize the amount of work it took to do a good chop. That's why we get so many plain "cut and paste chops". Some cutandpaste can be good, but most are not. It's going to be a long time before votes go to the 70's and dare I say the 80's. Nahhhhhhh!
Anyway, I am in Disneyworld enjoying being with my family and the warm weather. :D
