Hello photonationshoppers, I have a couple of ideas to improve the contests, what do you think:
1) sources should be mandatory, in order to fully judge and understand the job done... 2) gifs images should’nt be part of photo manipulation contests, they are from my point of view, a totally different kind of job and need an specific contest, it is difficult to vote in a contest with two kind of works, and I have always the feeling I’m penalizing one of them. This is of course my opinion, I hope I have a return from the members..... Cheers from France!

Hi A Bederatzi, I agree with you, we thought the same things during the site set up. In my opinion posting the external sources should be considered an "extra credit" for the author and as you say, they are useful for judge properly, posting them is an advantage for the author but it's a free choice to have this advantage or not.

As for the gifs I understand that it may be difficult to vote between an image and an animation, if users will ask for more gif contest we could set them up and then exclude the gifs from the photomanipulation contests.

I agree with your suggestion to separate the two types. It can sometimes be difficult to judge them when mixed. I'd be happy to see specific competitions for animations, and have them excluded from general photo manipulation contests.
