| Great movie - I remember watching it as a kid the first sci-fi I had ever seen so didn't get all it's meaning at the time but loved the special effects and vastness of space it depicted on a movie screen. (oh yes I am that old :) ) | ||||

| Very cool. Slight edge problems on the monolith, but negligible. I assume the large right angle light flares visible in the full res image are intentional? If so, nice! I like it. If not intentional, make it intentional.....fits the theme :) | ||||

| the way I interpreted it was that it was hollow with space inside,like a universe inside our universe,that is why he says it's full of stars,so in this context the monolith looses it's material manifestation and becomes the container of another universe | ||||

| "Inspired" by is great, but when I first saw this, author, since everything else was nicely curved, it made sense to me that the black star area should be curved also. Once you said it's a monolith, it makes more sense. I wish people would question me.. | ||||

| IMO, I think the bottom portion with the stars would have had a greater impact if it were curved, like the rest of the entry. (Still time to edit) | ||||
