Great movie - I remember watching it as a kid the first sci-fi I had ever seen so didn't get all it's meaning at the time but loved the special effects and vastness of space it depicted on a movie screen. (oh yes I am that old :) )

thanks Tubby, yes they were added for dramatic effect ,also the edge highlight was also added to give the monolith a little relief as per Vic's suggestion

Very cool. Slight edge problems on the monolith, but negligible. I assume the large right angle light flares visible in the full res image are intentional? If so, nice! I like it. If not intentional, make it intentional.....fits the theme :)

It would probably work more if somehow you faintly showed the edges of the monolith to show it's a 3D object, just an opinion.

I liked the movie, although I do not remember everything in it, I would watch it again if it ever came on.

the way I interpreted it was that it was hollow with space inside, like a universe inside our universe, that is why he says it's full of stars,so in this context the monolith looses it's material manifestation and becomes the container of another universe

It looks flat, not like a block, but ... I get it now.

"Inspired" by is great, but when I first saw this, author, since everything else was nicely curved, it made sense to me that the black star area should be curved also. Once you said it's a monolith, it makes more sense. I wish people would question me..

It's one of my favorite movies. Cheeky But not everyone has seen it either. I don't remember the movie frame by frame though.

I do mention in the author's description "inspired by 2001 A Space Odyssea" right ...how about if you try and see merit in what the author has done and not how you think it should be

time to edit , greater impact my foot...listen sage go see the movie 2001...that is the monolith and monoliths are not curved...an apology will suffice...

IMO, I think the bottom portion with the stars would have had a greater impact if it were curved, like the rest of the entry. (Still time to edit)
